This document describes the basic concept, installation steps, and some usage examples of JEUS® (hereafter JEUS).
To understand the basic concepts and applications of JEUS, it is recommended that users refer to the following:
Basic knowledge of JEUS (JEUS Server Guide)
Specifications of Java EE
Basic concept of EJB
Basic concept of XML, SOAP, protocols, and WSDL.
All examples and environment configurations are written according to the UNIX style. Hence, a few considerations must be given when working in a non-UNIX environment such as Microsoft Windows™ (hereafter Windows).
For example, for path delimiters, the UNIX style "/" must be changed to the Windows style, "\". As well, the environment variables must be changed to the Windows style, (%%). JEUS_HOME, which is specified in this guide, is the directory in which JEUS is installed.
This document concerns material based on Java SE, but it does not contain details about the Java EE or SE specifications. For such details, see Java documentation. For information about hands-on business application, management, and operation of JEUS, refer to the relevant guides.
This guide consists of 3 parts.
Descriptions of each are as follows:
Describes the JEUS server and environment as well as provides an overview of document organization.
Provides an overview of the JEUS server and environment and describes how to install and uninstall JEUS on UNIX and Windows.
Describes how to configure the environment settings and how to start JEUS, and provides examples of using JEUS in WebTier, EJBs, and web service environment.
