This guide is intended for developers who use Tmax® (hereafter referred to as Tmax) FDL (Field Definition Language) functions to write programs. FDL functions are used to manipulate (save, modify, or delete) data fields so that data can pass between different processes using the field buffer structure. This reference manual is a complete reference to the features of the FDL method and includes definitions and examples that enable developers to implement efficient programs in the Tmax system.
This guide helps users gain a basic knowledge of the Tmax system and its features and characteristics.
The user must have knowledge of the following in order to understand this guide:
Middleware and UNIX systems
Basic concepts of Tmax
Java and C programming
This guide does not explain how to use, manage, or operate the Tmax system. For information about how to use and manage Tmax, refer to the relevant guides.
For general information about Tmax system development, refer to "Tmax Administrator's Guide" or "Tmax Application Development Guide". For information about C API and commands provided by Tmax, refer to “Tmax Reference Guide”.
This guide consists of 2 chapters and 1 appendix.

Describes API functions used in FDL.
Appendix A: Field Buffer Calculation
Describes how to calculate a field buffer when migrating a Tuxedo environment that uses FML to Tmax.
