This document is intended for users who choose JEUS to develop application clients. The document describes the concept and usage of JEUS application clients and the concept of JNLP. An application client is an executable program like the following:

JNLP client
The source codes for examples used in the document are executable and available in the JEUS_HOME\samples\client directory.
For clients using web services, additional processes, which are not discussed in this guide, are required.
All examples and environment configurations are written according to the UNIX style. Hence, a few considerations must be given when working in a non-UNIX environment such as Microsoft Windows™ (hereafter Windows).
For example, for path delimiters, the UNIX style "/" must be changed to the Windows style, "\". As well, the environment variables must be changed to the Windows style, (%%). JEUS_HOME, which is specified in this guide, is the directory in which JEUS is installed.
This guide consists of four chapters.
"Chapter 1. Application Clients"
Describes application clients that are executed on a separate JVM from the JEUS server.
"Chapter 2. Advanced Application Clients"
Describes advanced modules of application client.
Describes how to create, configure, and execute an applet program in JEUS.
Describes how to deploy a client and its JNLP file to the web application, and how to execute a client.
